Our commitment to protect your privacy

Your privacy is important to us. We have put together the following privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to provide privacy to our website visitors and customers. We understand how important it is to protect your personal information. This document sets out our privacy policy commitment in respect of personal information we hold about you and what we do with that information.

We recognise that any personal information we collect about you will only be used for the purposes we have collected it or as allowed under the law. Our commitment in respect of personal information is to abide by the New Zealand Privacy Principles for the protection of personal information, as set out in the Privacy Act 1993 (the Privacy Act) and any other relevant law. This privacy policy sets out how NZ Insurance Broker and protects any information that you give NZ Insurance Broker when you use this website.

Use of Your Information

We take your personal information very seriously. We may request personal information such as your name, address, phone number or email address in order to:

  1. fulfil requests for our products and services

  2. communicate with you and respond to your enquiries

  3. contact you from time to time about our products and services

  4. conduct occasional research about our products and services

  5. we may also collect usage information about your engagement with our website to improve the user experience, such as pages viewed, time spent on site etc.

Forms

This website allows visitors to submit information via our ‘Get Quotes Now’ form.  The information submitted via the form is not encrypted. Information collected via our forms are sent to our offices via email (not encrypted) and is also stored on a database which is accessible by NZ Insurance Broker, although this is always (password protected). To fulfill the service you have requested of this site, the information you provide via the completed contact form is then also provided to the insurance provider(s) or insurance adviser(s) to make contact with you.

What information do we collect and how do we use it?

When we receive a request from you to have an insurance provider or broker contact you, we ask you for the information we require to enable us to know who to assign your followup contact request to and to what type of insurance you  require contact about.  As we are not an insurance provider and do not provide any insurance advice, we do not request information from you regarding your personal affairs including your assets, personal belongings, financial situation, health and well-being.

We provide the information that you supply us to enable to the insurance provider(s) or licensed insurance adviser(s) to contact you directly so that they can provide you with the quote(s) and or advice you require. It is up to them to decide whether to insure you and on what terms, or to fund your premium and on what terms. The insurers that you may decide to work with may in turn use your information in accordance with their own Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

From time to time, we will use your contact details that you have provided to send you  communications including offers, updates and newsletters that may be relevant to you. We always give you the option of electing not to receive these communications in the future. You can unsubscribe by notifying us and we will no longer send this information to you.

What if you don’t provide some information to us?

As we do not provide advice, our service is limited to being able to refer your request for a quote to an insurance provider(s) or licensed insurance adviser(s), we can only do so if you provide us with the correct contact information. Insurance laws require you to provide your insurance provider with the information they need in order to be able to decide whether to insure you and on what terms. You have a duty to disclose the information which relevant to the insurer’s decision to insure you.

Business without identifying you

In most circumstances it will be necessary for us to identify you in order to successfully do business with you, however, where it is lawful and practicable to do so, we will offer you the opportunity of doing business with us without providing us with personal information, for example, if you make general inquiries about getting an insurance quote. You may choose to interact with our website anonymously, but we will not be able to invite our participating insurance brokers to contact you unless you provide your personal information.

How do we hold and protect your information?

We strive to maintain the reliability, accuracy, completeness and currency of the personal information we hold and to protect its privacy and security. We keep personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or to comply with any applicable legal or ethical reporting or document retention requirements.

We hold the information we collect from you only electronically. We ensure that your information is safe by protecting it from unauthorized access, modification and disclosure. We maintain security of your electronic data by using Google’s industry leading data protection and encryption capabilities. We also maintain computer and network security; for example, we use firewalls (security measures for the Internet) and other security systems such as user identifiers and passwords to control access to computer systems where your information is stored.

Will we disclose the information we collect to anyone?

We may need to provide your information to others who supply services to us eg external data storage providers or to other companies in the event of a corporate sale, merger, re-organization, dissolution or similar event. However, we will take reasonable measures to ensure that they protect your information as required under the Privacy Act.

We may provide your information to others if we are required to do so by law, you consent to the disclosure or under some unusual other circumstances which the Privacy Act permits.

How can you check, update or change the information we are holding?

When provided with your written request and enough information to allow us to identify the information, we will disclose to you the personal information we hold about you. We will also correct, amend or delete any personal information that we agree is inaccurate, irrelevant, out of date or incomplete. Anonymous data

We use technology to collect anonymous information about the use of our website, for example when you browse our website our service provider logs your server address, the date and time of your visit, the pages and links accessed and the type of browser used. It does not identify you personally and we use this information primarily for statistical purposes and to improve the content and functionality of our website, to better understand our clients and markets and to improve our services.

Cookies  

We collect usage information when you visit our website in order to improve the user experience and how to better serve future users. We use Cookies and Pixel tags to collect this data. Cookies are small files containing a string of characters that are stored in a browser-related file on your computer’s hard drive when you use our website. Pixel tags are small graphic files that are placed on our pages. Cookies and Pixel tags are widely used on most major websites. Cookies do not damage your computer and you can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie so that you can decide if you want to accept it. Once you leave the site, the cookie is destroyed and no personal or other information about you is stored.

Third Party Advertising

Third party vendors, including Facebook , Google and Linkedin show our ads on sites on the internet. These vendors use their own cookies or pixel tags to serve adverts to you based on your prior visits to our website. We are not responsible for the information practices of these third parties. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics on our website to track your actions and help us optimise our site for conversions and usability. While we can see data gathered over a time-frame, we do not collect personally identifying information from any source as part of the terms of service of Google Analytics.

Do Not Track

If you are using a modern browser, you have the option to enable a “Do Not Track” feature in the browser’s privacy settings. This has no effect on whether we collect any information you directly submit to us, but may restrict our ability to measure your anonymous path through our website or certain information about your browser/operating system. Complaints
